State Historical Museum (main building)
All objects of the Historical Museum are closed to visitors from March 18 to April 10, 2020.
The Historical Museum on the Red Square was constructed by Alexander II of Russia in 1872, but it was opened in the time of the reign of Alexander III of Russia. Such great Russian painters as Ivan Aivazovsky, Viktor Vasnetsov, Valentin Serov, Sergey Korovin, Ilya Repin were taking part in the creature of unique interiors of the museum.
The work on the permanent exhibition was finished in 2006, after large-scale reconstruction. In 39 rooms located on 2 floors more than 22 thousand of exhibition items are represented. They tell us about the history of Russia from ancient times to the beginning of XX century. The approximate length of the exhibition is about 3 kilometers. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions that attract art enthusiasts from all over the world.
